Brittney ChisholmDr. Brittney Chisholm is excited to be back on Vancouver Island after a decade of pursuing her vocational aspirations. Brittney attended the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, BC graduating in 2009 with a Bachelor of Science: Life Science and Chemistry. During her degree she participated in an exchange program to the University of Queensland in Brisbane, Australia to study in a hands-on medical anatomy program. This experience instilled a passion for outdoor sports (hiking, rockclimbing, and diving) and furthered her interest in the human body and dysfunctional movement patterns.
In 2013 Brittney graduated magna cum laude with Clinical Honors from Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College in Toronto, ON. During her 12-month internship she worked with under-priviledged individuals and seniors at the South Riverdale Community Centre and had the opportunity to serve as medical volunteer for the 2008 Ontario Summer Games and for the FIFA World Cup Canada vs. Panama game. Upon graduation she practiced at a family chiropractic clinic in North York and at a multidisciplinary sports centre in downtown Toronto. The birth of her son, Jenson, brought her back to the west coast where she opened SunCoast Chiropractic in Powell River.
Dr. Chisholm practices evidence-informed conservative chiropractic care – that means research and clinical experience guide her treatment plans which are customized for the individual following a thorough history and physical exam. She uses a variety of techniques in her treatment plans: manual muscle release, trigger point therapy, spinal manipulation (Diversified technique, Thompson drop-piece technique, and the light-touch Activator technique) exercise & rehabilitation, fascial release techniques, postural & biomechanics corrections, supplement & nutrition advice, and Webster Technique.
Brittney treats an array of musculoskeletal and nerve-related conditions but has a particular interest in pre and post-natal care, and infant & paediatric care and research. As a member of the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association and a Certified Webster Technique provider, Dr. Brittney is skilled at assessing & treating biomechanical dysfunctions in infants and children which may play a role in common pregnancy-related ailments and childhood conditions.
